Phrasal verb'ler, İngilizce konuşma dilinin olmazsa olmazıdır. Bir fiil ile bir veya daha fazla edat/zarfın (preposition/adverb) birleşerek yeni anlamlar oluşturmasıdır. Native speaker'lar günlük konuşmalarında sürekli phrasal verb kullanır. YDS, TOEFL ve IELTS gibi sınavlarda da sıkça sorulur. Phrasal Verb Nedir?
Phrasal verb = Fiil + Edat/Zarf. Birleşik anlam, tek tek kelimelerin anlamından farklıdır:
- look = bakmak → look after = ilgilenmek (tamamen farklı anlam)
- give = vermek → give up = vazgeçmek
GET ile Phrasal Verb'ler
- get up — kalkmak → I get up at 7 AM every morning.
- get along (with) — iyi geçinmek → She gets along well with her colleagues.
- get over — atlatmak, üstesinden gelmek → It took weeks to get over the flu.
- get through — atlatmak, tamamlamak → We need to get through this chapter today.
- get by — idare etmek → She gets by on a small salary.
- get away — kaçmak → The thief got away before the police arrived.
- get rid of — kurtulmak → I need to get rid of these old books.
- get on — binmek (araç) → We got on the bus at the station.
- get off — inmek (araç) → Get off at the next stop.
- get back — geri dönmek → When did you get back from vacation?
TAKE ile Phrasal Verb'ler
- take off — çıkarmak / havalanmak → The plane took off on time.
- take up — başlamak (hobi) → She took up painting last year.
- take over — devralmak → The new CEO took over the company.
- take after — benzemek → She takes after her mother.
- take on — üstlenmek → He took on too many responsibilities.
- take out — dışarı çıkarmak → Can you take out the trash?
- take back — geri almak → I take back what I said.
LOOK ile Phrasal Verb'ler
- look up — aramak (sözlük) → Look up the word in the dictionary.
- look after — ilgilenmek, bakmak → She looks after her elderly parents.
- look into — araştırmak → The police are looking into the matter.
- look forward to — dört gözle beklemek → I look forward to meeting you.
- look out — dikkat etmek → Look out! There's a car coming.
- look for — aramak → I'm looking for my keys.
- look down on — küçümsemek → She looks down on people without degrees.
GIVE ile Phrasal Verb'ler
- give up — vazgeçmek → Never give up on your dreams.
- give in — boyun eğmek → After hours of arguing, she gave in.
- give away — bedava vermek / ele vermek → She gave away all her old clothes.
- give back — geri vermek → Please give back my book.

TURN ile Phrasal Verb'ler
- turn on/off — açmak/kapatmak → Turn off the lights before you leave.
- turn up — gelmek / sesini açmak → He turned up late to the meeting.
- turn down — reddetmek / sesini kısmak → She turned down the job offer.
- turn out — sonuç olarak ortaya çıkmak → It turned out to be a great idea.
- turn into — dönüşmek → The caterpillar turned into a butterfly.
BREAK ile Phrasal Verb'ler
- break down — bozulmak / ağlamaya başlamak → My car broke down on the highway.
- break up — ayrılmak → They broke up after 3 years.
- break into — zorla girmek → Someone broke into the house.
- break out — patlak vermek → A fire broke out in the building.
COME ile Phrasal Verb'ler
- come across — rastlamak → I came across an old photo.
- come up with — akla gelmek, bulmak → She came up with a brilliant idea.

- make out — anlamak, seçmek → I can't make out what he's saying.

- put up with — katlanmak → I can't put up with this noise.

- keep up — ayak uydurmak → I can't keep up with the pace.
- keep on — devam etmek → Keep on trying!
- cut down — azaltmak → You should cut down on sugar.
