İngilizce Comparatives ve Superlatives: Karşılaştırma Yapıları

İngilizce'de iki veya daha fazla şeyi karşılaştırmak için Comparative (karşılaştırma) ve Superlative (en üstünlük) yapıları kullanılır. Türkçe'deki "daha" ve "en" ifadelerine karşılık gelir. Bu yazıda karşılaştırma yapılarını öğreneceksiniz.

Comparative (Karşılaştırma): İki Şeyi Karşılaştırma

Kısa Sıfatlar (1 heceli)

Yapı: Sıfat + -er + than

• tall → taller: She is taller than her brother. – Kardeşinden daha uzun.
• old → older: My car is older than yours. – Arabam seninkinden daha eski.
• fast → faster: A cheetah is faster than a lion. – Çita aslandan daha hızlı.
• cheap → cheaper: This hotel is cheaper than that one. – Bu otel şundan daha ucuz.

Uzun Sıfatlar (2+ heceli)

Yapı: more + sıfat + than

• expensive → more expensive: Gold is more expensive than silver. – Altın gümüşten daha pahalı.
• interesting → more interesting: This book is more interesting than that one. – Bu kitap şundan daha ilginç.
• comfortable → more comfortable: This chair is more comfortable than that one.

Yazım Kuralları

• Sessiz harf + y: y → i + er → happy → happier, easy → easier
• Kısa ünlü + sessiz harf: Son harf iki yazılır → big → bigger, hot → hotter
• -e ile bitenler: Sadece -r eklenir → large → larger, nice → nicer

Kısa Sıfatlar

Yapı: the + sıfat + -est

• tall → the tallest: He is the tallest student in the class. – Sınıftaki en uzun öğrenci.
• old → the oldest: This is the oldest building in the city. – Şehirdeki en eski bina.

Uzun Sıfatlar

Yapı: the + most + sıfat

• beautiful → the most beautiful: Istanbul is the most beautiful city I've ever seen.
• important → the most important: Health is the most important thing in life.

Düzensiz Sıfatlar (Irregular)

• good → better → the best (iyi → daha iyi → en iyi)
• bad → worse → the worst (kötü → daha kötü → en kötü)
• far → farther/further → the farthest/furthest (uzak → daha uzak → en uzak)
• much/many → more → the most (çok → daha çok → en çok)
• little → less → the least (az → daha az → en az)

Eşitlik ve Eşitsizlik Karşılaştırmaları

As...as (kadar)

• Eşitlik: She is as tall as her mother. – Annesi kadar uzun.
• Olumsuz: This test is not as difficult as the last one. – Bu test sonuncusu kadar zor değil.

Less...than (daha az)

• This movie is less interesting than the book. – Bu film kitaptan daha az ilginç.

Karşılaştırma ile Kullanılan Yapılar

• The + comparative, the + comparative:
  The more you study, the better you get. – Ne kadar çok çalışırsan, o kadar iyi olursun.
• Getting + comparative:
  It's getting colder and colder. – Giderek daha soğuk oluyor.
• Much/far/a lot + comparative:
  She is much taller than me. – Benden çok daha uzun.

Sık Yapılan Hatalar

• Hata: She is more taller than me. → Doğru: She is taller than me.
• Hata: This is the most cheapest one. → Doğru: This is the cheapest one.
• Hata: He is gooder than me. → Doğru: He is better than me.
• Hata: It's the most best movie. → Doğru: It's the best movie.
